Bertram L. Potemken Fund
Bertram L. Potemken was a World War II Veteran, serving five years in the service, mostly in Italy, as assistant auditor for Mediterranean Theater of Operations. Having become an officer, he served one year after the war ended in Europe. Upon leaving the army he worked for the IRS for almost five years as an examining agent to criminal investigations. He then opened and maintained a private practice with offices in Baltimore and Annapolis for nearly sixty years. He also joined the prestigious law firm of O’Conner, Preston and Glenn as counsel to them, for a brief period. Mr. Potemken belonged to many professional associations including the Association of Attorney-CPAs in which he was an active member of the Board. He and his wife Anita attended many Attorney-CPA conventions and contributed to the social camaraderie of the Association. A lifelong resident of Baltimore, Mr. Potemken was a graduate of Baltimore City College and obtained his law degree at the University of Baltimore.
A gift to the The Bertram L. Potemken Fund was received in 2020 to establish a scholarship program. Candidates to receive the scholarship should have an undergraduate degree in accounting (and a CPA certificate or pursuing the CPA designation).
